Single? No Problem. Here’s How To Still Win On Valentine’s Day

No date? No problem!

The Valentine’s Day cards are on the shelves, the flowers are being ordered and the table-for-two reservations have been made—but none of them are for you. This year, you’re celebrating the international day of love in a party for one and still, there’s no room, space or time for any bitterness. Because who needs someone to lean your head on when you’ve got a sturdy pillow, a bowl full of popcorn and your own Netflix subscription?

But still, it is Valentine’s Day and you want to do something special. So go for it.

Do something you love

We all have our passions, whether that’s painting, reading a book or watching documentaries on the British royal family. And while we get to dabble on these things once in a while, make it a point to free some time on February 14 to get your hands dirty with something you love.

On the other hand, you could always try out something new instead. Ever wondered what it’s like to go rock climbing indoors? Always thought it would be wonderful to feed the Koi fish in Nuvali? Go do what you want this VDay, because you’re the only one you need to consider.

Treat yourself to something

Let’s be honest, sometimes the worst part about spending Valentine’s Day on your own is seeing everyone else get a gift. They write things like “Thank you to the best boyfriend ever!” or “I love my girl so much” in the captions of every possible social media platform. But if you think about it, there’s an easy solution for all that annoying jealousy: Get yourself something.

No one knows what you want more than you. The color, the style, the size and what have you. If you get it yourself, at least you know you’ll love it. And if you want to join in on the social media fun, you can take a snapshot and caption it “#LoveMyself.”

Of course, it doesn’t have to be something materialistic. You can book yourself an afternoon at the spa, get your nails done, have a haircut or get a massage. The options out there are endless and absolutely yours for the taking.

Have an escape

If you really would just prefer not to see anyone being overly sweet, then head out and give yourself some much needed breathing room. Yes, you could go out of town by yourself or with your friends and hopefully get enough distance from all the festivities, but you could also just stay home, turn off your phone, put something on the television and enjoy the disconnection.

Send love someone’s way

But if you don’t mind all the love, actually want to spread it around and just don’t have a particular person to focus on, then share it with anyone else that you hold dear. Send a simple flower, a single bar of chocolate or send them a serenade from your heart to theirs.

This February 12, spread the love with #LoveStream and some of the best acts of OPM. Click here to learn more.

Send love your way

If there is one thing to remember this Valentine’s Day though, it’s this: You deserve some love, too. And if there’s no one else that will show you this, then show yourself instead. Write yourself a love letter for everything you’ve done and everything you’ve accomplished, think about all the ways you’ve been good to other people and appreciate yourself for it.

Seal it up and save it for next year—whether you’re still single or not.

Let the couples have their candlelit meals and romantic strolls. Let them have their rom-com movie dates and picturesque Instagram photos on display. You? You’re doing pretty well on your own, so don’t be afraid to show it!
