International Cat Day, celebrated every August 8, is the purr-fect excuse to show your feline friends some extra love and appreciation.
Find fun and meaningful ways to make this day special—from supporting local shelters to pampering your pet with treats and staycations.
Support and Rescue Community Cats
Adopt, don’t shop! But if you’re not ready to bring home a new pet, you can still support your local animal shelter.
Looking for ways to help? Check this list of cat rescue organizations. You can volunteer your time, donate money or supplies, or sponsor one of the animals.
Your efforts can keep puspins happy and healthy until they find their forever homes.
1. Philippine Animal Welfare Society (PAWS)
Established in 1954, PAWS is one of the first animal welfare organizations in the Philippines.
PAWS has plenty of ways for you to help! You can volunteer to play with the cats and clean the shelters, implement their programs in your community, or become a supporting member for ₱300 a month.
You can also donate supplies like pet food, cleaning materials, and old newspapers.
Contact details: Drop off donations at Aurora Boulevard cor. Katipunan Avenue, Loyola Heights Quezon City, Philippines 1108. Follow them on Facebook, Instagram, and X for their latest events.
The organization began in 2018 when Malou Perez saved 50 dogs scheduled for death by gunshot.
Since then, Pawssion Project has rescued over 2,500 dogs and cats, and spearheaded spaying and neutering community programs. You can support them by donating cash or supplies (check their wish list) or buying their merchandise. You can also volunteer at their Bacolod and Bulacan shelters.
Contact details: Follow them on Facebook and Instagram, and check their heartwarming rescue stories on YouTube. Want to help take care of the cats? Book an appointment or drop by Tuesdays to Fridays, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

CARA currently has CNVR programs in Forbes Park, Bel Air, Makati Polo Club, and Fort Bonifacio Development.
Want to help? You can foster rescued kittens or volunteer for their different committees like social media or school workshops. You can also attend workshops on how to start a spay/neuter program in your community.
