5 Realistic Health Resolutions You Can Adopt This Year

There’s always room for a reset!

With one period of uncertainty after another, this we know for sure: Our health and wellness should be part of our top priorities! Quarantine has altered our whole lives, to say the least. We may not get back to regular programming soon, but there are still practical ways to practice a healthy lifestyle, even when holed up at home 24/7. We need to recognize that tangible steps towards self-care, no matter how small, make a difference.

If you haven’t listed down your health and wellness resolutions for 2021, why not add these tips in your daily, even weekly routine?

1. Stay hydrated.

Drink up! Increasing your water intake—incorporating at least eight glasses of water a day—is a must for overall good health. It doesn’t hurt that drinking water helps skin retain moisture, increasing its elasticity. If dehydrated, it becomes more prone to aging. For a substitute, drinking tea is also highly recommended!

2. Fix your sleep schedule.

It can get tempting to spend hours glued to the television while you binge-watch another episode of your current favorite K-Drama or latest Netflix original release, but we’re not getting any younger. A recommended eight hours of sleep boosts your immune system, strengthens your heart and improves your productivity.

3. Don’t forget the SPF!

PSA: Yes, you need to wear sunscreen even if you’re stuck at home. Wearing SPF religiously helps protect the skin from intense UV rays, delays skin aging and even decreases the appearance of pigmentation. Make it a non-negotiable in your morning routine!

4. Do a digital detox every now and then.

Screen time has definitely skyrocketed in lockdown for obvious reasons, but too much time on social media is detrimental to your mental health; it also takes away time for you to be productive. Give yourself a time limit to your scrolling, or even do a digital detox every now and then. Thank us later!

5. Exercise your face and body muscles.

You don’t need to go to the gym on the daily to work out, especially in quarantine. Downloading an app or watching a quick online workout video can already do wonders for you. After a long, grueling day booked with meetings, a quick workout can do so much for your mental health and wellness! Working towards improving your blood circulation helps deliver oxygen and nutrients to your body, too.
