StyleFestPH 2019: Meet 0917 Lifestyle's New Breed Of Designers

Meet stylefestph 2019’s finalists for 0917 Lifestyle

With the last few months of the year rolling by quickly, most of us are already saying our farewells to 2019’s mishaps and issues—completely forgetting that there is still so much to look forward to. In particular, we have our eyes set on stylefestph this November, as we await the introduction of a new generation of designers for 0917 Lifestyle

It was announced earlier this month that Neil Anthonie De Guzman, Justine Llarena, Einar Rey Nicdao and Adrian Sahagun are the four finalists of stylefestph’s Design Mentorship Program for 0917 Lifestyle. The four individuals are now on a two-month long journey under the tutelage of Inno Sotto, Carl Jan Cruz, Sidney Yap, Paulo Campos and Leah De Guzman.

But while we have to wait until November 5 to see their capsule collections, we can learn about the minds behind them.

Neil Anthonie De Guzman

Currently a student of Fashion Design and Marketing at SoFA Design Institute, Neil Anthonie has a talent for reinventing the classics into contemporary, chic and modern pieces. He draws his inspiration from architecture and film, which has us dreaming of clean lines, structured silhouettes and dramatic finishes.

You’ll look at her and immediately think: model—which isn’t a false assumption, since Justine Llarena entered the fashion industry as so at the age of 18. The push, however, was always to create a fantasy through clothing, which led her to take Fashion Design ad DLS-Benilde’s School of Design and Arts. You can see the unconventional in her and we hope to see it on the runway.

Einar Rey Nicdao

No stranger to the world of design, Einar Rey Nicdao is a graduate of the Fashion Institute of the Philippines and was even a finalist at the Manila Fashion Festival Design Competition in 2016. And while he currently works as an auditor, he’s mastered the art of two-hatting as proven by his expertise in men’s streetwear design. He now has his eyes on women’s wear—which leaves us wondering exactly who he’ll be dressing at his stylefestph debut.

Adrian Sahagun

Another graduate of the Fashion Institute of the Philippines, Adrian Sahagun has an eye for geometric shapes and unique fabric. Put together, these two have helped shape Adrian’s signature streetwear designs that are tailored and minimalist yet still forward.

There’s still some time until the capsule collections are ready for the runway, but we’ve already marked our calendars for the weekend of November 5.

stylefestph kicks off on November 4, 5 and 6. The 3-day expo, happening at the Grand Hyatt Manila, will consist of Trend Talk by Fashion Snoops, Designers on Spotlight + Runway, Design Mentorship Program and Showroom + Shopping Party.
