Attention culture vultures! Two of the world’s largest Broadway musicals are coming to our local shores

Globe Live and 9Works Theatricals are staging the local production of Disney’s hit musical Newsies. Originally produced on Broadway by Disney Theatrical Productions, Newsies follows the story of Jack Kelly and a ragtag of teenaged newsies who strike for what’s right. It’s inspired by the real-life Newsboy Strike of 1899 and features themes like social injustice, David-versus-Goliath struggles and fighting against a corrupt establishment that will never go out of style. On stage this starting this July at the Bonifacio High Street Amphitheater, Bonifacio Global City, Taguig.

Meanwhile West Side Story, dubbed the greatest musical of all time, is coming to Manila to serenade us with age-old hits like Something’s Coming, Maria and I Feel Pretty. We just can’t wait to see the story of a boy, a girl, two rival gangs and a fatal love affair come to life with an outstanding international cast, electric dance routines and astounding vocals. Runs this August at The Theatre at Solaire.
