Elfrid Payton is starting to make a name for himself on the NBA court as the point guard of Orlando Magic. But while this is so, his young career means his talent does not reach as wide an audience as Stefen Curry or LeBron James. Nevertheless, we’re willing to bet that Payton will continue on to become one of the best NBA players of his generation.

Born on February 22, 1994, Elfrid Payton was born to a Canadian Football Hall-of-Famer. Despite this pressure, however, he stuck with his gut and pursued basketball. Why? He told us the choice was easy – he just enjoyed basketball better.

Payton has a lot of things on his shoulders – there is no doubt about that. At just 23 years of age, he has had to play on an international court. He’s had to chase against some of the biggest names in the NBA, and had to perform with an immense pressure that others would just crumble under. And yet, he still finds the time and energy to be completely himself.
