The Key Matchups Of The 2017 West NBA Playoffs
It’s going to be an exciting ride for the next few weeks
The 2017 NBA Playoffs are already underway and each matchup is proving to be a must-watch. But before the finals, we need to get through the Western Playoffs.
Golden State Warriors vs. Portland Trail Blazers
For the first round, the Golden State Warriors are taking on the Portland Trail Blazers. For the Warriors, they have Kevin Durant’s offensive prowess to cash in on, as well as the Splash Brothers Klay Thompson and Steph Curry’s deadly 3 point shooting average and Draymond Green’s defensive skills. The GSW also have their team ball movement down and a deep bench they can securely depend on.
On the other side of the court, the Trail Blazers’ can rightfully put pressure on Damian Lillard, who often succeeds when attacking the basket. The team also has CJ McCollum’s improving offensive skills to rely on. On the defensive side of things, the Portland Trail Blazers have Jusuf Nurkic and Al-Farouq Aminu to carry the weight.
San Antonio Spurs vs. Memphis Grizzlies
Kawhi Leonard has been a force to reckon with during this entire NBA season. The Spurs are sure to benefit greatly from both his offensive and defensive talents. Meanwhile, the team has Pau Gasol and LaMarcus Aldridge for shooting near and beyond-the-arc and big man presence. Danny Green and Patty Mills also have a notable average from the 3-point line, which is sure to come in handy during the Playoffs.
To counter this, the Grizzlies have Mike Conley on offense and Tony Allen on defense. The team also has Marc Gasol and Zach Randolf as their big men, who kill it offensively, too. Not to mention they have a veteran player to carry a lot of the weight as well in Vince Carter.
Houston Rockets vs. Oklahoma City Thunder
In the battle against Oklahoma City Thunder, the Houston Rockets will benefit greatly from James Harden’s offensive ability and talent for creating an open man. To partner with this perfectly are Patrick Beverly, Clint Capela and Trevor Ariza on defense. The team’s overall ball movement is also relatively notable, and their big men Nene and Clint Capela can be counted on for inside presence.
On the side of Oklahoma City Thunder is Russell Westbrook’s offensive expertise and the combined defensive skills of big men Steven Adams and Enes Kanter, as well as Andre Robertson. Any NBA fan will also know how important it is to have a reliable 6th man and OKC has that with Victor Oladipo.
Los Angeles Clippers vs. Utah Jazz
For the LA Clippers, there’s Deandre Jordan and Blake Griffin’s double offensive and defensive talents, as well as JJ Redick’s remarkable average beyond the arc. And when push comes to shove, the Clippers have Chris Paul as the clutch shooter and play maker.
But the Clippers aren’t the only team with a dependable clutch shooter, as Utah has Joe Johnson on their side. Meanwhile, there’s Rody Gobert on defense and Gordon Hayward, George Hill and Rodney Hood on offense. And as a whole, the Jazz does have a defensive record that any NBA team would want.
