This Is What Protein Bars Really Do For You

Do you really know what you’re munching on?

For years now, we’ve been munching on protein bars under the assumption that they’re the healthier snack to take, and we haven’t been wrong. They’re definitely the better option as opposed to chips, candies or other junk food. But do they actually help make you thinner?

Protein is a relatively satiating nutrient, in the sense that it will fill you up quickly and you’ll feel full for a longer period of time. In this way, grabbing protein bars instead of a bag of fries will help you lose weight. The thing to remember, however, is that you still have to balance it out with other healthy food to get the right daily supplements. In other words, you can’t, and shouldn’t, live on them.

But if your main goal is to lose weight with the help of protein bars, make sure to check the nutritional content. Like most everything else, protein bars are not made equal. So to get the scale numbers down, opt for bars that have a lower count of fat grams and added sugar. Make sure to peak at the calorie count as well, because you might start taking in more than you should.

There is, however, more to protein bars than just helping you lose inches off your waist. ThinkThin Products, an LA-based snack company, was recently under fire for its partnership with Wonder Woman. Vocal members of the public were floored at the connection because Wonder Woman has been an image of feminine strength and not just a thin body.

Just the same, protein bars have some much more to offer. They get protein from things such as soy, milk and eggs. Because of this, they also contribute amino acids to your diet that help build and maintain muscle mass. Likewise, they can help supply your body with energy in the form of carbohydrates and fat, as well as vitamins and minerals.

It's best to know what you're taking in and not be satisfied with general beliefs and incomplete information. So before you dive into anything, make a conscious effort to be smart about it.
