How to Upgrade Your Globe Prepaid SIM to 5G: A Comprehensive Guide
Ready to experience faster videos, seamless downloads, and stronger connections? Upgrading your old Globe Prepaid SIM to 5G can boost your mobile experience. Enjoy lightning-fast speeds, enhanced response times, and the latest in mobile technology. This guide will walk you through the process, from getting your new SIM to enjoying the full benefits of 5G on the latest devices.
Step 1: Check Your Device’s Compatibility
Most new smartphones are 5G-compatible. But if you’re unsure about your device, you can check its compatibility through your phone's settings.
iPhones:
- Go to “Settings” > “General” > “About.”
- Look for and click on "Model Number." If it starts with "A" followed by four numbers, it's a 5G-compatible iPhone.
Android Phones:
- Go to “Settings” > “Connections” (or “Network & Internet”).
- Tap “Mobile Networks” (or “SIM & Network”).
- Look for “Network Mode” or "Preferred Network Type." If 5G is listed as an option, your device is compatible.
Another way to check is to search for your phone model's specs online or visit the manufacturer’s website.
Before getting a new 5G SIM, make sure you're not already using one. Simply text SIMCHECK to 8080 to confirm for free! If you have an LTE SIM, there's no need to upgrade—it's already 5G-enabled.
Step 2: Get Your 5G SIM on the GlobeOne App
Now that you've confirmed that your current SIM is not 5G and your phone is compatible, it's time to get your new SIM.
- Open the GlobeOne app.
- Tap the "SIM Services" icon on the home page.
- Choose "Change SIM," then select "Physical SIM to 5G Physical SIM.”
- Confirm your details, pay the ₱10 upgrade fee plus the delivery fee (depending on your location), and you're done!
- Your new 5G SIM will be delivered to you.
You can also visit the nearest Globe Store to purchase your 5G SIM in person. On the other hand, upgrading eSIM to 5G physical SIM can only be done in stores.
Step 3: Activate Your SIM
Got your new SIM? Great! Now, it’s time to activate it. First, turn off your phone and swap your old SIM for the new one. Remember to insert your new SIM in the same SIM slot and phone as your old SIM. Don’t forget to back up your contacts before activating your 5G SIM so you don’t lose any important information. Afterward, turn your phone back on, switch on your data, and it should automatically connect to Globe’s 5G network. You might even get a confirmation message.
If it doesn't connect automatically, try activating your SIM by checking your balance and buying load from the GlobeOne app. Remember to keep your old SIM until you've successfully activated your new SIM card and transferred any necessary contacts or data.
Troubleshooting Your 5G Connection
If you don't see a 5G indicator on your device, first check your phone's settings to make sure your cellular data is turned on. If it is, try restarting your device. If your internet speed is slow, remember that this can happen for a few reasons. Network congestion and your location can all slow down your connection. If you can, try moving to a different spot or resetting your network settings.
Experience the Power of 5G
Upgrading to 5G unlocks a world of possibilities. This advanced cellular network is designed to handle more devices and data, ensuring a smoother and more consistent connection. You can experience virtually instantaneous responses in online games and video calls, download movies in seconds, stream high-quality videos without buffering, and enjoy lag-free gaming!
