PlayStation 4 vs. Xbox One: Know Which One’s For You
Compare their specs, exclusive games and prices
It’s been almost four years since Sony and Microsoft released the current generation of their consoles—considering that the PS4 Slim, PS4 Pro, Xbox One S and Xbox One X are all mid-gen upgrades. Despite this, they are still two of the hottest gaming items in the market.
Specs Comparison
The specs of the consoles are important so that you can expect the right level of gaming performance. The names and numbers can get a little dizzying and the consoles honestly perform almost at par with one another. Nevertheless, it’s important to know the basics of what you’re buying.

Exclusive Games
Many will argue that because the performance of the PS4 and the Xbox One are fairly similar, that the choice really depends on the exclusive games that Sony and Microsoft offer. There are more than enough titles that the consoles share, but exclusivity is really something you need to consider, especially if you have your eye on a certain game.
PlayStation 4 | Xbox One |
The Last Of Us | Dead Rising |
Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy | Forza Horizon |
Days Gone | Gears Of War |
Dragon Quest Heroes | Halo Wars |
Kingdom Hearts | Rise Of The Tomb Raider |
Uncharted | Killer Instinct |
Pricing
Of course, none of this matters when the pricing isn’t right. The most powerful console with the biggest library will sell close to nothing if it’s priced too high. When you order from Sony directly, the PS4 can set you back some US$300 (Php15,000). Meanwhile, Microsoft sells its Xbox One 1TB for around US$400 (Php20,000).
So how do you choose?
The PS4 is multi-faceted and it arguably has the best exclusive content from its competitors. Those who have had a taste for JRPGs will love the Sony console because it has so much support from third party providers. Not to mention, it’s compatible with PlayStation VR.
On the other hand, the Xbox One does have its own titles to boast. And with Phil Spencer at the helm of global creatives and game engineering, we know we can expect more from what many consider to be the underdog in gaming.
When it comes down to it, you won’t make a mistake by choosing either the PlayStation 4 or the Xbox One. It all comes down to knowing what you really, really want.
