Fresh Perspectives: We're Falling Back In Love With This City Up North
See the color, culture and creativity of Baguio City through the lens of the Amber Sunrise Huawei P30
When travelers think about the Philippines, it’s often our beaches that come to mind first. Mangoes—dried, green or ripe—are probably a close second, along with the warm-and-wet weather we associate home with. Over the years, the country has become increasingly recognized by way of these features, but there remains one less recognized, oft-forgotten gem: Baguio City.
Baguio isn’t quite like any other city in this country. Nestled in the far north of Luzon, the city of pine trees and strawberry taho is recognized by UNESCO as a creative city home to diverse culture and color.
Giving the city the honor and acclaim it deserves, Globe Postpaid invited creatives on an all-expenses-paid trip to Baguio City. Taking on the challenge to create bravely, boldly and without limits, participants captured the city’s most photogenic cultural spots using the new Amber Sunrise Huawei P30.

Jether Dane
Where To Next?
Hi, Jether! How would you describe your photo walk experience?
Jether Dane: It was great! had a lot of fun connecting and getting to know other creators. We also went to some spots in Baguio that I've never been before so I'm pretty stoked about that.
What was your favorite stop during the photo walk?
JD: Valley of Colors for sure. It was my first time going there and I always wanted to go. Though it was brief because of the rain, it just made the moment better. There was no crowd, the breeze became chilly with ice-cold drops of rain pouring down, Baguio delivered.
Tell us about your experience shooting with the Amber Sunrise Huawei P30. What did you like most about the new device?
JD: I've always been an iPhone user and it was my first time using the Huawei P30. The wide-angle lens and the super zoom blew my mind, it's on a caliber of its own. Coincidentally, my favorite color is orange and with the Amber Sunrise colorway, it made it more incredible. Needless to say, I'm sold.
Ayn Veloso
VSCO Philippines
Hi, Ayn! How would you describe the photo walk experience?
Ayn: Overall, the photo walk experience was a way to challenge the usual, to try to look at the world differently, and to see the extraordinary in the ordinary. It was an experience where we got to see Baguio in another light.
What was your favorite stop during the photo walk?
A: My favorite stop would have to be in the Tam-Awan village where we saw the rich culture of the Cordilleras. There were a lot of places to explore like the huts, the cafe, the gallery, and more.
Tell us about your experience shooting with the Amber Sunrise Huawei P30.
A: Shooting with the Huawei P30 was nothing short of amazing. There were a lot of new features that I got to learn more about such as the Aperture Mode, which let me focus on an object and blur the background realistically just like a professional camera. It helped me be a brave creator and focus on the little things that no one would usually notice, the ones people would overlook at times.
Bryan Benida
Sino Pinas
Hi, Bryan! How would you describe the photo walk experience?
Bryan: My photowalk experience was incredibly fun. T'was not my first time in Baguio but I've seen new beautiful sceneries that is something worth to capture: Baguio's art & culture.
What was your favorite stop during the photo walk?
B: The first stop! At Oh My Gulay, I truly liked the instagrammable stairs, the interior design, artworks and their pasta! I like the view outside from our table while eating our lunch.
Tell us about your experience shooting with the Amber Sunrise Huawei P30. What did you like most about the new device?
B: I can't lie, Huawei P30 has nice features. Their camera's ultrawide and zoom features both [gave me] new experiences, since my current smartphone doesn’t have those features. It is also good for capturing low light scenery, and is still able to capture the details even when in ultrazoom mode. I like the contrast, too. Through Huawei P30, I enjoyed Baguio’s scenery and capture it in different perspectives without any rush or hesitation.
John Renzo Aledia
Sino Pinas
Hi, John! How would you describe the photo walk experience?
John Renzo: I was really pumped when SinoPinas invited me to be one of their representatives for this event. Prior to that I was sharing photos and videos on Facebook that were taken in Baguio, some photos were actually from SinoPinas' page. I was missing the cold breeze, the night market, and the street food.
Another thing that made me excited was getting my hand on Huawei P30. I am a Huawei user myself and I really am a fan of their mobile phones. I am amazed by its camera and how they continue to change the game when it comes to versatility of mobile phones. When I saw the list of places we were going to visit, I just knew this trip would be amazing. Imagine visiting the place you really miss but this time you have a better phone to capture everything. It was one of the most memorable photo walk I have experienced.
What was your favorite stop during the photo walk?
JR: Oh My Gulay! is one of my go-to places in Baguio. Aside from their healthy food selection, the view from the window is amazing. It is also the best place to watch the sunset in Baguio. It's filled with traditional artworks from the Igorot culture. It also serves as a venue for visual-art exhibits. It has a theater stage for original music events and presentations. It's amazing how a place like that is located inside a building. Oh My Gulay! is one of the best art cafes I've ever visited. It's like you have entered an oasis on top of the Session Road.
Tell us about your experience shooting with the Amber Sunrise Huawei P30. What did you like most about the phone?
JR: I like how you can shoot using various options without [have to] move from your spot. I have heard that the super zoom feature was really good, but seeing it first-hand was crazy––it was surreal. The ultra-wide angle lens feature was good too. Imagine going anywhere with this phone. You can almost shoot everything from landscape, portrait, food, to night photos.
I was really intimidated when I first held the Huawei P30 but after using it for a couple of hours, it was really easy to use. It is indeed a very versatile phone.
