The Best Pizzas in Town You Might Not Know About

We’ve got our eyes on these noteworthy joints and hole-in-the-walls which offer the finest pizzas in Manila

In pursuit of new establishments around the metro to get your pizza fix? We’ve got you covered. What constitutes the perfect pizza? The in-between crunchy and soft dough, mouthwatering sauce and delectable toppings, of course. We rounded up the best homegrown restaurants (and an iconic British chain!) for those on the quest for “the one.”

Crosta Pizzeria

Address: The Social On Ebro, 5770 Ebro Street, Poblacion, Makati

Phone number: (916) 6338378

Operating hours: Closed on Mondays, 5PM to 11PM from Tuesdays to Thursdays, 5PM to 12MN from Fridays to Saturdays

For late-night comfort food in Manila, Poblacion is undoubtedly the "it" nightspot for locals and tourists alike. Whether you’re a regular or a first-timer, there’s something for everyone. The Social on Ebro—Poblacion’s own version of a food park—houses Crosta Pizzeria, famed for their Basic B*tch Pizza, which is anything but. The coal-fired, sourdough-style crust topped with mozzarella and basil leaves packs a flavorful punch. They also have vegan options available. PSA: You can even bring your four-legged friends!

Amare La Cucina

Address: 91 East Capitol Drive, Kapitolyo, Pasig

Phone numbers: (2) 2469069

Operating hours: 11AM to 10PM daily

Baguio’s finest wood-fired brick oven pizza is now in Manila! Here, you can actually DIY and make your own traditionally-cooked pizza. Feeling a bit adventurous? Their Foie Gras Pizza is a must-try. It’s made of mozzarella, basil, white truffle oil and superstar ingredient foie gras (duck liver). Why not finish it off with dessert and try the scrumptious Roasted Mallow Speculoos Pizza?

Pizza Grigliata

Address: Cullinan Prime Building, 8 Missouri Street, Greenhills, San Juan

Phone numbers: (917) 5497310

Operating hours: 11AM to 11PM daily

From frequent pop-ups to a neighborhood brick-and-mortar, Pizza Grigliata was born out of an idea of “a total pizza experience” from Chef Emman Galves. This is where pizza is grilled and torched to perfection. Their bestselling artisan pizza is the Quattro Formaggi Pizza with Truffle Oil, which actually won grand-champion status at a 2018 taste test. Other staples worth trying out include the famed Prosciutto Arugula, Margherita and Pepperoni served with either a black dough made with squid ink or regular white dough.

Kermit

Address: 4636 Molina Street, Poblacion, Makati

Phone numbers: (2) 2759219

Operating hours: 5PM to 12MN from Mondays to Thursdays, 5PM to 1AM on Fridays, 11PM to 1AM on Saturdays, 11AM to 12MN on Sundays

If you frequent Siargao, you’re no stranger to Kermit, which undisputedly has the best pizza on the island. The reception is incredible that getting a table means reserving days in advance. With the incessant debacle between thin and thick crust pizza, they have perfected the in-between crust. Try founder Gianni Grifoni’s favorite: the pizza with spicy salami and artichokes.

PizzaExpress

Address: 3/F Mega Fashion Hall, Sm Megamall, Ortigas, Mandaluyong

Phone numbers: (917) 6312287

Operating hours: 10AM to 10PM daily

Pizza Express recently opened their flagship branch in SM Megamall—the biggest in the country. The pizza chain, which is a household name in England, is doubly committed to serving authentic ingredients, highlighting “the dough to die for.” Indulge in the Calabrese—the only rectangular pizza on the menu—with its hot Calabrese sausage, ‘nduja salami and fresh chilies. For meat lovers, the Le Rose is heavily loaded with pancetta, prosciutto, Calabrese sausage and grilled chicken chunks.
