Get Your Filipino Food Fix at These Restaurants

Satisfying all your local cravings, one resto at a time

For us Filipinos, nothing instantly feels like home than our own cuisine. While not everyone can just whip up a mouthwatering spread at home, heading to the nearest restaurant is always an excellent option. Don’t know where to start?

From dishes made in the north to local dishes with a twist, read on for a list of restaurants to get your Filipino food fix this year.

Toyo Eatery

First up on the list is Toyo Eatery. This restaurant has made waves not only in the local culinary scene but across Asia having been named one of Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants in 2019. With this kind of recognition, there’s no denying that this is the perfect place to begin our hunt for the best Filipino restaurants in the Metro.

The humbly named Toyo Eatery is a place to treat yourself to thoughtful, savory full-course meals. By booking a table at this restaurant, expect to enjoy a multi-course dining experience perfect for date night and other special occasions.

Toyo Eatery is located at The Alley at Karrivin Plaza Chino Roces Extension Makati, Manila, Philippines.

Haliya

When it comes to establishments putting a contemporary spin on all-time favorite Filipino dishes, Haliya comes to mind. Still fairly new to the culinary scene, Haliya is considered the City of Dreams’ up-and-coming pride and glory. A space decked out with Filipino art made by Yana Ofrasio, this restaurant serves dishes created by Chef de Cuisine Edmundo San Jose, ultimately marrying together opulence and hominess.

Haliya takes pride in its modern takes on the classics. From Adobo to the unique Binakol, Haliya is a place to enjoy familiar comfort food staples in an adventurous way.

Try Haliya’s offers today at Nüwa Hotel, City of Dreams, Aseana Avenue corner Roxas Boulevard, Entertainment City, Parañaque, Metro Manila.

Locavore Kitchen & Drinks

If you’re up for more Pinoy dishes that feature a contemporary twist, be sure to drop by Locavore Kitchen & Drinks. Much like Haliya, this restaurant presents well-known and beloved Pinoy dishes in brand new ways, either by making use of other cooking techniques or incorporating unexpected ingredients.

Chef Mikel “Kel” Zaguirre crafts dishes here in ways that make the Filipino dining experience truly memorable. Take for example the Lechon Oyster Sisig and Sizzling Sinigang, which are updated versions of classic dishes. Locavore’s unique fusions also include the Kimchinigan (Sinigang with a kimchi kicker) and Pho Lalo (a fusion of the Vietnamese Pho and the Filipino Bulalo).

Locavore has branches in Kapitolyo, Eastwood, BGC, Valero St. (Salcedo Village), S'maison, and Bacoor.

O’ini

A roundup of Pinoy restaurants would not be complete without highlighting Kapampangan delicacies. If you’re up for an authentic Kapampangan dining experience, look no further than O’ini.

Need a seafood fix? Try O’ini’s satisfying Adobong Pusit or Seafood Bundle. Want that classic greasy goodness? O’ini’s Crispy Boneless Lechon Belly or classic Kapampangan Sisig are your best bets.

O’ini is located at FCL Building Xaviervielle Avenue Loyola Heights, Quezon City, Quezon City.

Lampara

Located in the year’s hottest night district, Poblacion, Makati, Lampara prides itself as a Neo-Filipino Bistro. Here, Pinoy favorites meet modern twists and a great serving of signature cocktails. Lampara adds a unique take on Filipino food especially when paired with one of their alcoholic concoctions.

The choice of starters comes with refreshing dishes such as Ensalada or Rice Cups (not to be confused with a plain cup of rice) which are servings of rice with bean sprouts, peanuts, and longganisa. Savory mains will melt in your mouth—from the Hanger Steak Kulma to the Crab Laing. Finally, finish up your meal with their iconic Tres Leches.

Visit Lampara at 5883 Enriquez, Makati from 5 pm onward.

Pancit Pancitan by Manam

Manam is a restaurant familiar to many, considered by some as their go-to Filipino family restaurant. But have you heard of and tried Pancit Pancitan by Manam? Your favorite bistro now has a delivery-only brand that caters to your salo-salo needs.

Pancit Pancitan offers a large selection of different types of Pancit such as Canton, Bihon, and Palabok. Sweets and pica-pica or finger food are also available for sharing.

Order your Pancit Pancitan faves via Grab Food, Pick-A-Roo, Foodpanda, or pancitpancitan.momentfood.com.

Sentro 1771

Sentro 1771 is one other popular homegrown restaurant worth getting your Filipino food fix from. This pioneering restaurant is some kind of blueprint of the contemporary Pinoy culinary concept. To this day, the restaurant’s Sinigang na Corned Beef, Rated GG, and Fried Kesong Puti are the must-order items of its patrons.

Other dishes worth trying? The Beef Ribs Binagoongan for a savory meal or the Corned Beef Sinigang for a heartwarming main. Don’t forget to finish off your meal with the classic halo-halo.

Visit Sentro 1771 at Greenbelt 5, Capitol Commons, and One Bonifacio High Street Mall.
