6 Veggie Burgers to Try in Metro Manila
Here, meatless alternatives that can satisfy your next burger craving
Nothing does it quite like a juicy, 100%-beef burger with the works. This begs the question: are those going plant-based missing out? We don’t think so. Whether you’re making an active effort to move away from meat or just want to have a plant-based option available when you feel like cutting out meat, Metro Manila restaurants are making sure the meat-free burger holds its down.
In the post ahead, we round up six mouth-watering veggie options you can turn to next. Trust us: they don’t scrimp on flavor and they definitely prove that the plant-based alternative to the classic burger is just as delectable.
The ‘Shroom Burger, ₱445
Shake Shack is here to let you eat your fill of good food, meat lover or not. Their ‘Shroom Burger is a mammoth of a meatless burger that includes a whole roasted Portobello mushroom patty that’s breaded to perfection, features a cheese-stuffed center, and is topped off with lettuce and their signature ShackSauce.
Shake Shack has branches in the following locations: Central Square in BGC, SM Megamall, Greenbelt 5, and Alabang Town Center.
Beyond Burger, ₱895
Consider this the veggie burger for treat-yourself day: Green Pastures’ version of the veggie burger, while on the pricier side, is one that does not hold back on flavor. It packs a punch with its generous serving of sustainably harvested ingredients. The Beyond Burger has the classic building blocks of a classic hamburger (lettuce, tomato, mustard, pickles), with a twist. It’s made with the famous meat substitute brand Beyond Meat, and comes with either sautéed mushrooms or sliced avocados.
Green Pastures is located at Shangri-La Mall.
Beyond X Burger, ₱500
Sink your teeth into a savory burger you won’t believe isn’t made of meat. Sweet Ecstasy’s Beyond X Burger flips the switch on its regular burger elements (soft, buttery buns, a generous serving of cheese, the Sweet X special sauce) by offering a completely vegan-friendly alternative. This means the cheese, all sauces, and even the bread are vegan, making the Beyond X Burger a great option for those also watching their gluten intake and trying to keep kosher.
Sweet Ecstasy can be located at Jupiter Street in Makati, Greenhills Shopping Center, Molito Lifestyle Center, Scout Borromeo and BF Homes in Parañaque.
La Royal Burger
Vegetarian Burger, ₱320
Let’s not discount specialty pop-up restos and hole-in-the-wall discoveries. At La Royal Burger, the Vegetarian Burger joins the ranks of indulgent, succulent burgers that go above and beyond expectations. In its own right, it steals the show with its savory, roasted mushroom patty, delicious onion chickpeas, gouda cheese, avocado, tomato, pickled red cabbage and kimchi mayo.
La Royal Burger is located at 1312 Visaya Street in Makati. Pickup and delivery arrangements can be made here.
Plant-Based Double Burger, ₱415
Another veggie burger that could very well pass for its classic iteration is Army Navy’s plant-based burger. It’s smoky and perfectly spiced; you’d think twice about it being completely meat-free. The burgers here come in three variations: the Plant-Based Burger (priced at ₱280) featuring a single patty, the Plant-Based Double Burger (₱395) with two patties, and the Plant-Based Bully Boy Burger (₱495) with three stacked patties in total. Diners are free to customize these burgers, too, by adding more cheese (₱35), jalapeño peppers (₱30), and onion slices (₱30).
Veggie Burger, ₱768
Who says you can’t get your hands on a juicy, delicious veggie burger at a steakhouse? At Wolfgang’s, treat yourself to the Veggie Burger that bursts with flavor with every bite. It’s made of a mushroom patty (a combination of shiitake mushrooms, button mushrooms, and tofu), and is served with lettuce, tomato, onion, barbecue sauce and potato chips.
Wolfgang’s Steakhouse can be located in Resorts World Manila, The Podium, and Bonifacio Global City.
