This coming-of-age rom-com movie marks KathNiel's big-screen debut as a leading couple. It follows two childhood best friends, Patchot (Kathryn) and Ivan (Daniel), as they grapple with young love, growing up, and the complicated feelings they come with.

2. Pagpag: Nine Lives (2013)



This horror film is the duo's first and only foray into the genre, making it a must-see for fans of thrillers and KathNiel. It centers on Cedric (Daniel), Leni (Kathryn), and their group of friends, who each violate local superstitions surrounding funerals. By doing so, they incur the wrath of vengeful spirits.


Pagpag: Nine Lives debuted at the 2013 Metro Manila Film Festival, finishing the season with two wins and 10 nominations, including Best Picture. Frasco S. Mortiz directed the film.

3. She's Dating the Gangster (2014)



For many, She's Dating the Gangster is the romantic movie that put KathNiel on their radar. In it, Athena (Kathryn) unwittingly commits to a fake relationship with Kenji (Daniel), a notorious gangster. As you might expect from a rom-com that employs this popular trope, lots of drama and chaos ensue.


She's Dating the Gangster is based on the Wattpad bestseller by Bianca Bernardino. Cathy Garcia-Sampana directed the film.

4. Crazy Beautiful You (2015)



In Crazy Beautiful You, the rebellious Jackie (Kathryn) meets Kiko (Daniel), a well-meaning medical volunteer who inspires her to be a better person. Given their stark differences, the pair struggle to get along at first. But they eventually find common ground while helping their community.


Crazy Beautiful You co-stars Filipino acting legends Lorna Tolentino and Gabby Concepcion as Jackie's estranged mom and Kiko's mayor father, respectively. Mae Cruz-Alviar directed the film.

5. Barcelona: A Love Untold (2016)



As the title suggests, Ely's (Daniel) and Mia's (Kathryn) serendipitous love story develops in the romantic city of Barcelona. Despite their beautiful backdrop, the pair can't seem to escape their painful pasts and secrets. Ultimately, they learn to heal, forgive, and embrace the new and unfamiliar.


Barcelona: A Love Untold won Best Picture at the 65th FAMAS Awards in 2017. Daniel Padilla and Olivia M. Lamasan took home awards for Best Actor and Best Director, respectively.

6. Can't Help Falling in Love (2017)



What happens when you get engaged to the love of your life only to discover you're already married? That's what Can't Help Falling in Love explores. Gab (Kathryn) is planning to marry her boyfriend Jason (Matteo Guidicelli), a future lawyer in the U.S. When she learns she's already married to a stranger—the carefree Dos (Daniel)—she must try to find a way out of her existing marriage.

7. The Hows of Us (2018)



The Hows of Us tells the story of Primo (Daniel) and George (Kathryn), a young couple in love. They plan for a future together but face challenges and realities that test their long-term relationship. 


This 2018 romantic drama marked director Cathy Garcia-Sampana's second project with Bernardo and Padilla after their 2014 success She's Dating the Gangster. The film also stars Jean Garcia, Darren Espanto, and Susan Africa.

8. The House Arrest of Us (2020)



The House Arrest of Us is a Netflix series set against the backdrop of the COVID-19 pandemic. It follows an engaged couple, Korics (Daniel) and Q (Kathryn), preparing for marriage. Their plans take an unexpected turn when Korics' easy-going family visits Q's sophisticated and affluent family for the pamamanhikan, just as the government announces a strict lockdown. The couple must navigate living together and their clashing families under one roof.


This romantic comedy series, produced by Star Cinema, first premiered online on October 24, 2020, via KTX, iWantTFC, and TFC IPTV PPV. It features a notable cast, including Herbert Bautista, Ruffa Gutierrez, Gardo Versoza, and Dennis Padilla.

Car mechanic Eloy (Daniel) makes a bad first impression on Ali (Kathryn), who works for a real-estate tycoon. Their first meeting occurs in a hotel lobby during a robbery incident. Both are hiding something from the other: Eloy is trying to discover the truth behind the crime that imprisoned his father. At the same time, Ali also hides aspects of her own life.


Director Mae Cruz-Alviar once again worked with Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla in this romantic comedy-drama series. This show also marks the return of both stars to primetime TV, five years after their last joint appearance in the 2017 series La Luna Sangre.
