Why Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales Is Worth Watching

The fifth installment might just be the best one yet

Pirates of The Caribbean is a franchise that is now more than a decade old. Each movie was highly anticipated, but we’ll be honest in saying we wondered when it would end. And yet, with the new Dead Men Tell No Tales, we’re hoping that that time will not come soon.

It introduced us to new characters

The only way to keep a franchise relevant is to constantly introduce new and engaging characters, because even the most beloved individuals will eventually get old. Pirates Of The Caribbean has been very creative in this sense and Dead Men Tell No Tales is no exception.

The movie introduces us to Captain Armando Salazar (Javier Bardem), who is hell bent on getting revenge on Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp). Then there are Henry (Brenton Thwaites) and Carina (Kaya Scodelario), each of who are just looking for their place in the world. Their respective backstories will get you hooked and wanting more, yet you’ll be curious to see what the future holds as well.

It presented a new side to old favorites

That said, Dead Men Tell No Tales still presents us with some of our favorites—Jack Sparrow and Hector Barbosa (Geoffrey Rush). With a handful of films between them, it would seem like the audiences would know every side to them. And yet, the new Pirates film proves us all wrong.

In the movie, we see these two through an entirely different set of lenses. We see a young Jack and finally learn how he eventually became Captain Jack Sparrow. And viewers will see a more human side to Barbosa.

It opened the door to more tales

Without giving away any spoilers, we can say that there is a definite possibility for more Pirates Of The Caribbean movies. And honestly, we can’t wait to get our hands on them.

That said, the movie is not without its faults. The chemistry between Henry and Carina could have been more natural, and the story of Barbosa is a little out of nowhere. Nevertheless, Dead Men Tell No Tales is still a great notch to add to the franchise.
