TV Shows And Apps Appropriate For Kids

Make TV or tech time worthwhile for young ones

Television and the web have changed drastically since the early 2000s. Gone are the days when all we could watch as kids were Sesame Street (which we still love!) and Batibot, while the Internet then had very little mom-approved content to offer. Today, however, our kids can watch just about anything and everything, anytime, anywhere, especially on the world wide web. But that doesn’t mean we can’t curate what they watch. Here, we help you make TV or tech time worthwhile for your young ones.

Trollhunters

Recommended age: 9+

An American computer-animated fantasy web series by Guillermo del Torro and produced by DreamWorks Animation and Double Dare You for Netflix, Trollhunters follows the adventures of 15-year-old James. He stumbles upon a magical amulet that transforms him into a warrior/Trollhunter and unwittingly becomes the protector of the human and troll worlds alike.

Skylanders Academy

Recommended age: 7+

If you’ve played Spyro on playstation before, then you’ll enjoy watching Skylanders Academy with your kids. The animated web series, which debuted on Netflix, October last year, shines the spotlight on academy newcomers, Spyro the Dragon, Stealth Elf and Eruptor as they try to learn what it means to be a true Skylander.

YouTube Kids

YouTube Kids makes it safe your little ones to watch their favorite shows, like Sesame Street (yay!) and Thomas and Friends, and browse through other kid-friendly videos. The best part, you can set a time limit for watching and when the time’s up, the app will lock down. It’s free, easy to use and made for curious little minds as well as the whole family.

Download the app here. Enjoy watching videos with the whole family and cast it on your smart TV. As they say, the more the merrier!
