Camera

The dual sensors of the iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max allow up to 2x optical zoom and up to 10x digital zoom while the iPhone XR can only go up to 5x digital zoom. While you can perform similar functions like portrait mode and depth control adjustment options, the wider lens and deeper zoom of the iPhone XS and XS Max would make it the phone of choice—that is if you’re a camera enthusiast or budding photographer.

Display

The iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max come with Super Retina OLED Panels which means that you’ll enjoy the best color accuracy, brightness and contrast from any hand-held device. It’s perfect for those who spend a lot of time streaming HD movies on their phone. The iPhone XR has Liquid Retina, which is one of the best LCD screens in the industry. Once you go OLED, it’s you can’t ever go back.

Size

The 5.8-inch iPhone XS is the smallest out of the three and the most convenient to carry, but as mobile phones have gone beyond simply texting and calling, it could be too small for some users. The 6.5-inch iPhone XS Max has the largest screen among the roster but it may not be easy to fit in the pocket. At 6.1-inches, the iPhone XR is the perfect size.

Performance

All three phones use an A12 Bionic system, which is 15% faster and 50% more energy efficient than the A11 Bionic, which is used for the iPhone X and iPhone 8. The iPhone XS and XS Max boast 4GB RAM which helps load apps faster than the iPhone XR with 3GB RAM.

Battery Life and Charging

If you are looking for the phone with the longest battery life, it’s the iPhone XR which lasts 11 to 26 hours. On the other hand, the iPhone XS Max and iPhone XS last for 10 hours and 28 minutes and 9 hours and 41 minutes of straight use respectively. All three phones are fast-charge capable and can fill up half the battery life after only 30 minutes of charging.

Which New Apple Phone Should You Get?

Overall, the three phones are a step-up from the previous generation of iPhones. With the A12 bionic chip, all three are faster, have longer battery life and have better cameras than previous models. If you’re looking for a great phone for a more affordable price, the iPhone XR may just be up your alley. If you’re looking for the best-performing phone with an awesome camera to boot, the iPhone XS or XS Max is a must-have.
