As thousands of schools nationwide prepare for the return of learners, Globe joined the National Capital Region launch of Brigada Eskwela 2026 at Kapitbahayan Elementary School in Navotas City, helping strengthen school readiness through connectivity support and volunteer-driven campus improvements.
Led by President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. and Department of Education Secretary Juan Edgardo "Sonny" Angara, the June 2 kick-off gathered stakeholders under the theme "Bayanihan sa Paaralan: Nagkakaisa para sa Kaayusan at Kaalaman." The event underscored the shared responsibility of creating learning environments where students can learn, grow and succeed.

Echoing this spirit of bayanihan, Globe deployed 200 SIMs for teachers and parents to help strengthen communication and improve access to digital resources. Globe employees also participated in classroom repainting and campus improvement activities to help prepare the school for the new academic year ahead of the opening of classes on June 8.
Extending its reach in the provinces, Globe has mobilized an estimated 250 employee volunteers to participate in various regional kick-off activities across Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. Local teams rolled out support in Mandaue City, Davao, Cagayan de Oro, Cabadbaran City in Agusan del Norte, Marikina City, and Batangas. To cap off the week-long initiative, Globe volunteers joined the final wave of Brigada Eskwela activities in Pampanga and Zamboanga del Norte on June 5, ensuring a comprehensive push for campus readiness across the country.

The support comes as the country continues to address significant learning gaps. Recent Department of Education data showed that 87% of assessed Grade 11 students are not yet independent readers, highlighting the need to strengthen foundational learning among Filipino youth. As education increasingly intersects with technology, initiatives that promote both literacy and digital citizenship play an important role in helping learners thrive in the digital age.
"As we prepare for the upcoming school year, Globe is proud to support the government's efforts to create a better learning environment for students and teachers. Beyond infrastructure and connectivity, we recognize the importance of addressing the country's literacy challenges. At a time when learning gaps remain a pressing concern, digital literacy has become an essential skill that complements reading, critical thinking, and lifelong learning. Through our Digital Thumbprint Program, Globe continues to help equip students and educators with the skills they need to thrive in an increasingly digital world," said Melchor Rebutica, General Manager for Greater Manila Area at Globe.

Globe’s Digital Thumbprint Program (DTP) has empowered over two million students and educators in more than 4,100 schools with essential digital literacy skills. Complementing its long-standing support for Brigada Eskwela, Globe continues to help create safer, more inclusive learning environments by promoting responsible technology use, expanding digital access, and empowering communities to become future-ready.
