Setting Sail: How It All Began
As college students, we’re all working toward one goal—to prepare ourselves for our professional careers. Part of that is stepping into the corporate world through an internship. This summer, I embarked on my own voyage as an intern at Globe Telecom.

My interest in Globe started when my student organization, the Junior Blockchain Education Consortium of the Philippines - Polytechnic University of the Philippines - Manila, partnered with the company for events and proposals. We pitched a project about “The Role of Blockchain in Telecommunications” at the Globe Community Builders Pitch Day. It was an opportunity to engage in a meaningful dialogue about how Globe could support the youth in achieving their goals as an organization.
There, I saw how Globe employees carried themselves with professionalism and energy. It was an environment that was fast-paced yet collaborative, productive yet fun. That experience sparked a dream in me: to become a part of Globe.
Anchored in Opportunity: Joining Globe
When Globe opened its internship applications, I was excited to apply. On July 11, 2025, I officially became part of Marketing’s Channel Design Team. At first, I was worried—how could a Computer Science student fit into a Marketing department? But upon my onboarding, I learned that Channels Design Team covers Website Operations. I realized then that my background in web development could actually add value to the team.

The Website Operations Team is made up of Search Engine Optimization (SEO) Specialists, Section Editors, and Content Management System (CMS) Administrators. They optimize content to improve visibility and ranking on search engines, create ones that are clear and engaging, format them, and build pages.
Though their roles are distinct from each other, they work seamlessly like a close-knit family in managing the content lifecycle, from planning to publishing. This culture of collaboration, where everyone’s contribution is valued and integrated, reassured me that I was in the right place.
Navigating Challenges: Learning on the Move
My internship wasn’t without any challenges, though. I had to quickly learn new tools like Google Analytics and Screaming Frog for SEO, explore wireframing and client communications for Editorial, and handle website content management tasks, such as publishing and maintaining pages through a CMS. Each task required patience, adaptability, and eagerness to learn.

I also worked on several presentations: an assessment of the new Globe website, an analysis of sports brands using Google Trends, a refresher on User Interface/Experience, and a customer service capability proposal aiming to turn Globe’s customer service into a holistic ecosystem.
The last one was a shared experience with my two co-interns, who were both graduating Marketing students. We challenged each other’s ideas, refined our proposal together, and celebrated even the smallest wins.
Though there were days filled with pressure, what truly helped me steer through these challenges was the culture of feedback at Globe. Each presentation was met with constructive comments, acknowledging what I did well, and offering guidance on what I could improve. The feedback was objective and encouraging, which became my motivation to do better every time.
Beyond the Deck: Building Connections
Internship life isn’t only about tasks; it’s also about bonding with colleagues during lunch breaks and coffee chats. These small moments opened doors to honest conversations about professional life, career tips, and even personal experiences.

I wasn’t just treated as an intern—I was welcomed into their family. This sense of belonging taught me that work is more fulfilling when people support one another. While technical skills can be learned, it’s the people and the culture that make the experience in the workplace meaningful.
The support I received made it easier to face challenges and embrace new responsibilities. It showed me that a strong team culture doesn’t just improve work—it’s transformational. Because there’s trust and open communication, I feel confident in what I do to contribute to the team.
The Turning Tide: Growth Along the Way
Over time, I realized that this internship was more than a school requirement—it was a turning point. My initial nervousness slowly turned into confidence, and my curiosity evolved into passion. Growth isn’t only about gaining skills; it’s about developing the right mindset—staying adaptable, humble, and open to challenges.

Being a Computer Science student in a Marketing team taught me that growth happens when you step out of your comfort zone. Success isn’t about fitting neatly into one box; it’s about finding ways to use your unique skills toward a bigger vision. It’s in these unexpected spaces where learning and transformation begin.
Returning to Port: Lessons Unpacked
Looking back, this internship felt like a voyage of discovery. I’m grateful to Globe for giving me the opportunity to learn—not only about website operations, but also about teamwork, resilience, and humility. I witnessed firsthand how the company is actively investing in the development of young talent from diverse locations and academic backgrounds. True to its mission of empowering students to go for their dreams, Globe's Student Program helped make this experience my compass, pointing me towards the kind of professional I aspire to be.

No matter where my career journey leads, Globe will always be the first harbor that welcomed me aboard and set me sailing towards endless possibilities. It was here that I learned the value of collaboration and purpose-driven work. Every challenge became a lesson, and every task a stepping stone. Every connection I made became a reminder that I was not just an intern—I was part of something bigger.
