6 Awesome Smart Watches for Every Situation

Along with how to choose the smartwatch that fits both your budget and lifestyle

Have you ever made 10,000 steps a day one of your fitness goals? If you answered yes, chances are that you use—or have considered using—a smartwatch to track your progress. That said, smartwatches have always been more than just heart rate monitors and step trackers. As they work like mini smartphones, you can answer phone calls remotely, monitor your sleep, control your Spotify playlists, and more. Some even go so as far as to alert you about health concerns: elevated heart rates, low oxygen levels, stress monitoring included.

They’ve come a long way. And smartwatches aren’t reserved for the most affluent either. Today, there are options for every kind of lifestyle, health and wellness goal, and even mood. Here, we round up six awesome smartwatches to consider—no matter the budget, too.

Fitbit Versa 3 (₱14,790)

If you’re looking for a reliable midrange smartwatch, the Fitbit Versa 3 is your best bet. It’s well-known for its GPS tracking. Even if you leave your smartphone at home, it has the capability to still track your location and progress—and that’s even if you exercise anywhere outdoors. On to aesthetics: while it’s famous for being a function-over-form type of watch, the Versa 3 offers a lovely, soft-edged watch face that’s comfortable to wear all day long.

While the Versa 3 doesn’t bring with it the most advanced Fitbit features, it still excels at covering the basics. It lets you answer phone calls straight from your watch, monitors how much time is spent in the fat-burning zone during exercise, and gives you advanced sleep analysis reports, too.

Apple Watch Series 7 (starts at ₱22,990)

Apple released its first-ever smartwatch in 2015; while it’s gone through several iterations since then, it still maintains its status as one of the best smartwatches in the market. The latest generation is the Apple Watch Series 7 (which you can get with your Globe Postpaid subscription). Its elongated screen is the biggest Always-On Retina display so far, yet does not feel or look bulky. This lets you type with ease on the QWERTY keyboard—the first of its kind on an Apple Watch.

If you’re a Globe iPhone user, make your Apple Watch experience even more immersive through Globe’s OneNumber. This add-on service works with Globe’s eSIM technology, which, when activated, lets you extend your mobile number and LTE connectivity to your Apple watch.

Garmin Lily (₱11,395)

Want a smartwatch but hate the typical look of wearable tech? The Garmin Lily might be for you. Its jewelry-inspired design is streamlined, simple yet sophisticated, and goes with a range of outfits. As one of the brand’s smallest smartwatch designs, it’s a great fit for slimmer wrists, too.

Mainly a fitness watch, the Garmin Lily can track your heart rate, blood oxygen levels, sleep, calories burned, steps, and workouts. It also includes your typical smartwatch capabilities; this pulls up your phone notifications, music controls, and widgets.

Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 (₱14,990)

Lauded as one of the best smartwatches for Android, the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 is both stunning and functional. It looks more like an elegant, classic timepiece than a typical smartwatch, too. Made with an Armor Aluminum metal frame, its watch face is a classic round silhouette and is ultra-sleek.

This model, however, isn’t just about aesthetic. It also boasts some of the most advanced features you can find on a smartwatch. Thanks to the Samsung BioActive sensor, it can provide in-depth body composition measurements in seconds and track over 90 different types of workouts.

Amazfit T-Rex (₱8,390)

Reminiscent of the popular G-Shock watches, the Amazfit T-Rex is durable and utilitarian. It features a rugged look you don’t normally associate with smartwatches—and it lives up to it, too. With military-grade certifications, it’s designed to withstand extreme conditions.

The T-Rex includes GPS, music controls, a heart rate sensor, sleep tracking capabilities, and an impressive battery life. It’s available in standard military colors: black, green, and khaki. A great gift for the adventurous outdoorsman in your life.

Google Pixel Watch

While not yet officially released, here’s one smartwatch you will want to wait out for. The Google Pixel Watch is the tech giant’s first foray into the smartwatch space. Set to launch later this year, this is slated to run on Google’s Wear OS 3, the same system that powers many Android smartwatches.

Considering that this watch is designed by tech giant Google itself, it’s rumored to be the best smartwatch yet for their software. Its rumored features include a co-processor for speedier performance and a whopping 32-GB memory. It’s definitely something to save up for and cop once it’s out.

Which smartwatch do you have your eye on? It might be tempting to splurge on the latest industry release, but it really does boil down to choosing a smartwatch that accommodates your budget and lifestyle. Take your time...and choose wisely!
