What is a Gaming Router?

A more advanced version of a traditional router designed to improve performance. Unlike a typical router, these devices provide the means to configure your local internet traffic to make it more efficient. Features include:

  • Superior connection speeds and responsiveness
  • Prioritize internet traffic with "quality of service"(QoS) features
  • Better graphic and audio fidelity
  • Minimize data loss
  • Superior components and hardware performance
  • Best overall performance for gamers

Why can't I use a mesh?

  • Mesh is not meant for activities which are latency critical because they are prone to being congested.
  • Mesh is used for situations where coverage is important, while the gaming router is used for enhancing the gaming experience with QoS and other congestion management settings.

What is QoS?

Your gaming router uses QoS to prioritize traffic for your game. It minimizes packet loss while bunching the rest of the incoming and outgoing network data into a separate screen. Quality of service (QoS) is the use of mechanisms or technologies that work on a network to control traffic and ensure the performance of critical applications with limited network capacity. It enables organizations to adjust their overall network traffic by prioritizing specific high-performance applications.
