Globe AT HOME Monthly Internet Allowance

What is a monthly internet allowance?

The monthly internet allowance is the maximum amount of data (in gigabytes/GB*), that a Globe AT HOME account can consume within one month.

This monthly allowance includes all data received (downloaded) and sent (uploaded) on all home devices connected to the Globe AT HOME network, such as tablets, laptops, smartphones and other devices that use your internet connection.

* A gigabyte measures the amount of data you send and receive over the network – not the amount of time spent connecting to the Internet. A gigabyte is 1,073,741,824 bytes, 1,048,576 kilobytes, or 1024 megabytes.

What plans have a monthly internet allowance?

Starting 2015, all our plans except for our Go UNLI plans have a monthly internet allowance.

Why do Globe AT HOME plans have a fixed monthly internet allowance?

Globe At Home's current plan offers have various data allowances ranging from as low as 100GB to as high as 6TB. You can choose from a wide variety of plans with different data allowances, based on your budget and/or your family's internet usage needs.

Normally, plans with a fixed data allowance means that browsing should no longer be possible once this is used up. However, with Globe At Home, you'll remain connected, but at 256kbps. If you need more data for your plan, you can always get more data by purchasing Volume Boost for as low as P99, so that you can browse at your availed plan speed.

How do I know what my monthly internet allowance is?

You can check your monthly internet allowance using the GlobeOne app.

How do I know how much data I use on my Globe AT HOME plan?

Once you enroll your account to the GlobeOne app, you'll be able to monitor how much data you have left. You can also customize alerts via the app  to let you know if you are running low on data.

What types of activities use up the most data?

The amount of data you use on your Globe AT HOME plan largely depends on a number of factors such as:

  • The number of users and devices accessing the network
  • The types of websites you visit
  • The types of applications (apps) you use
  • The amount of content you access.

As a rule of thumb, the richer the content you view, download or upload, the more data you use up (ex. streaming videos with higher resolution or uploading or downloading high definition pictures use up more data)

What happens when I use up my monthly internet allowance? Will you cut my internet service?

When you use up your internet allowance, we'll still allow you to continue browsing, but at the speed of 256 kbps. You'll need to avail Volume Boost to get additional data so that you can browse at your availed plan speed.

Learn more about Volume Boost here.

When will my monthly internet allowance refresh?

Your monthly internet allowance will refresh at the beginning of the next month.

I have one of Globe AT HOME's previous plan offers. Does the monthly internet allowance still apply to my plan?

Globe AT HOME plans installed before 2015 do not have any monthly internet allowance, but are subject to the terms of our Fair Use Policy.

I got a notification from Globe AT HOME that I've used up my monthly internet allowance. This is impossible since I only use my home internet for browsing, Facebook, and Instagram. What should I do?

There are several reasons why you might be using more data than you realize. Here are some common scenarios that may contribute to your internet usage:

  • Number of users and internet devices accessing your home network - The more users and the more devices, the higher your home's total data usage.

  • Wi-Fi password security - Equip your Wi-Fi modem or router with a secure password. If your network is unsecured, anyone nearby with an internet-enabled device could access your network and also increase your data usage.

  • Smart home appliances or devices - Appliances such as Smart TVs, set-top boxes (like Apple TV), Chromecast, Playstation and the like also consume data-- some even when on standby mode, and their internet use also counts towards your total usage.

  • Automatic Updates - Check that your PCs, laptops and other devices with applications are not set to download automatic updates as these also contribute to overall data usage.

  • Music and Streaming - Music and video apps, especially when downloading for offline use, also consumes data. Check your music and video streaming apps and set video quality settings to "Low" or "SD" or other basic quality settings so as to consume minimal data during use.
