Inside Dusit Thani Residence Davao, Benjarong Bar and Restaurant pairs the richness of Thai culinary tradition with a mission to uplift communities. At its helm is Chef Piya Suthasiri, who fuses his Phuket roots with decades of global experience to create authentic dishes that nourish both body and soul.
Currently running until November 30, 2025, Benjarong participates in the second run of Globe Platinum's Gastronome Giving Series, held in partnership with Facebook community Fine Dining Club Philippines.
Gastronome Giving forms part of Globe’s Globe of Good masterbrand, bringing to life the vision of a sustainable future through programs that create change in the present.
The initiative enables the multi-awarded destination and its diners to contribute automatically to the Hapag Movement, supporting Filipino children facing malnutrition.
Globe’s Hapag Movement addresses involuntary hunger, which causes child stunting. It harnesses technology-enabled fundraising together with sustainable feeding and nutrition education programs, supported by partners such as the Ayala Foundation and the UN World Food Programme.
“Hunger and its impacts remain a serious challenge, with nearly one in four Filipino children under five experiencing stunted growth. Together with our partner organizations and restaurants, we are striving to break the generational cycle of malnutrition,” said Yoly Crisanto, Globe Chief Sustainability and Corporate Communications Officer.
An Eight-Course Journey of Giving
For Chef Piya, participation reflects his core belief in the healing power of food. “My grandmother taught me about herbs and their benefits, and how even humble ingredients can be transformed into something truly special when prepared with intention and authenticity. Through Gastronome Giving, we bring these principles to life, using our craft not only to create exceptional dishes but also to spark meaningful change,” he said.

As part of the Gastronome Giving Series, Chef Piya has developed ‘Tales of Thai,’ an eight-course exclusive menu priced at PHP 3,600 per person that narrates Thailand’s culinary story while supporting Filipino communities.
The experience opens with the iconic spicy and sour shrimp soup, Tom Yum Goong, setting the stage for Satay Gai, marinated chicken skewers accompanied by southern-style peanut sauce and cucumber relish. It is followed by Yam Pla Dook-Fu, crispy catfish flakes paired with green mango and cashew nuts, dressed in chili and lime.
The mains consist of Massaman Nua, a 16-hour slow-cooked USDA beef in a rich southern Thai spiced coconut curry with cashew nuts; Gang Luang Goong, yellow curry shrimp with fresh herbs; Gai Yang Nham – Jim Jiew, grilled marinated chicken served with a tangy tamarind herb dip; and Pla Thod Yam Takrai, crispy fried Mahi-Mahi with Thai-style lemongrass and peanut salsa. The delectable meal concludes with Khao Niew Ma Muang, Thailand's beloved mango and sticky rice with coconut sauce. Globe Platinum customers get a complimentary sweet treat of Khao-Mao Kluay Thord, a Thai honey and cereal flake coated banana a la mode with homemade coconut ice-cream with Malagos chocolate sauce.
"Our Platinum members are very discerning. The Gastronome Giving Series allows them to enjoy world-class international cuisine with measurable community impact, the kind of purposeful luxury they value most,” noted Mark Pasaylo, Head of Globe Platinum.
Voices United for Change
Pasaylo added, “This collaboration with Fine Dining Club Philippines demonstrates how fine dining experiences can serve purposes beyond pleasure.”
Benjarong joins six other distinguished dining establishments in the Gastronome Giving Series: Chef Jessie Rockwell Club, Restaurant Idalia, and Metiz in Makati City; Finestra in Parañaque and Quezon City; and Sauma Farm, Bar & Kitchen in Hinigaran, Negros Occidental.
