Globe is ramping up its efforts to protect Filipinos online, blocking more than 484 million scam and spam messages in the first half of 2025. Alongside this, it shut down 5,707 domains tied to child exploitation and other harmful content as part of its broader push to keep the internet safer for everyone.

The company also took down 2,785 illegal gambling sites during the same period, targeting platforms that put people at risk of financial fraud.

“People just want to feel safe when they go online,” said Anton Bonifacio, Globe’s Chief Information Security Officer. “Our job is to make sure they can. We don’t wait for problems to escalate. We intercept threats early, work with global partners, and build smarter defenses into every part of our network.”

Globe’s StopSpam portal continues to be a vital tool for customers. In 1H alone, it processed 87,624 SIM reports, resulting in the deactivation of 9,961 SIMs on Globe’s network and blacklisting of 77,065 SIMs from other networks.

The company’s filtering system also blocked 248,552 URLs containing child sexual abuse and exploitation materials, with 8,385 URLs containing non-photographic images (NPIs). These efforts support the enforcement of the Anti-Child Pornography Act (RA 9775) and are done in coordination with both local authorities and international watchdogs like the Internet Watch Foundation and the Canadian Centre for Child Protection.

These new figures follow Globe’s aggressive efforts in 2024, when it blocked over 414,544 malicious URLs across its network.

Through its #MakeITSafePH campaign, Globe continues to lead the way to invest in threat detection technologies and collaborates with government, law enforcement, and tech industry partners to take down cybercriminal operations before they cause real harm.

“Our mission is simple,” Bonifacio added. “Protect every customer. Every day, any day! No shortcuts.”
