Globe readies libreng tawag, charging stations

Globe’s network and core services remain operational amid heavy rains brought by Tropical Storm Enteng, with a few sites impacted due to commercial power outages because of the adverse weather.

As of Monday morning, call, text, and data services were operational in most of the country, with pockets of outages logged in parts of Bicol and Southern Luzon where the storm caused power failure.

In all, network outages have affected just 3 percent of total sites in the provinces of Albay, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Sorsogon, Marinduque, Cavite, Laguna, and Quezon.

Globe’s field operations teams are on standby to begin restoration work as soon as weather conditions permit. It is also readying its Libreng Tawag and Libreng Charging stations in storm-hit areas as soon as it is safe to do so.

“Our network continues to operate in areas hit by the typhoon. Only a few sites were affected by outages due to the loss of commercial power. Our network teams have been prepositioned and ready for restoration work once the situation on the ground improves,” said Yoly Crisanto, Globe Chief Sustainability and Corporate Communications Officer.

As of 8 a.m. Monday, Tropical Storm Enteng was spotted east of Polillo Island in Quezon, moving north northwest with maximum sustained winds of 75 kph and gustiness of up to 90 kph.

As it enhances the Southwest Monsoon, it is expected to bring moderate to heavy rains across parts of Luzon and Visayas. It is forecast to intensify and peak into a typhoon by Thursday or Friday.

Globe advises the public to stay updated and get verified weather reports through official platforms such as the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) website, where Globe customers get free data access.
