USING A TAMPERED MODEM

How will I know if the modem being sold is actually a tampered Globe At Home Prepaid WiFi modem?
Tampered Globe At Home Prepaid WiFi devices usually have descriptions such as "open line" and "pwedeng any SIM ang ilagay" ("you can use any SIM with this modem"). Sometimes, resellers even place stickers from non-Globe brands on the modem to make it appear like the tampered modem is actually the Prepaid WiFi device of the brand featured on the sticker.
Examples of these tampered modems can be seen in the attached screenshot from an online marketplace.
