Possibilities: The 5G Series

Watch Mikael Daez and Janina Vela explain what exactly 5G is and why it’s the next big thing in connectivity.

What do I need to be able to connect to 5G?

You’ll need a 5G-capable phone compatible with the Globe network and a 4G/LTE SIM.

How will I know if my phone is 5G-ready?

You may check your mobile device’s box or manual, or you can also check your phone’s settings to see if there’s a 5G option on your phone.

Which mobile phones can detect a 5G signal from Globe and what 5G devices can I buy from Globe?

5G phones that support the 3500 Mhz band can detect our Globe 5G signal, assuming they have a postpaid LTE SIM and they are in the 5G area. To ensure seamless experience, we recommend that you buy only Globe network-approved 5G devices.

You can get the following models for sale at our Globe stores: Huawei Mate 30 Pro 5G, Huawei Mate40 series, Huawei Nova7 and Nova7SE, Samsung S20 Ultra, Samsung Note20 series and Oppo Find X2 Pro.

At present, 5G mobile isn’t available yet for iOS.

Do I need to change my existing SIM to use 5G for mobile? Would 5G work on the SIM 2 tray of dual SIM smartphones?

Your existing 4G LTE SIM is already capable to receive and use the 5G signal assuming that the area you're at is 5G zone.

5G mobile works in SIM1 and SIM 2 for some devices such as the Huawei Mate 30 Pro 5G. However, you can't set both SIM slots simultaneously to the 5G network. The other SIM slot will be set to 4G only.

Since 5G can use up data faster, can I limit my data usage on a 5G device?

Limiting your data usage depends on your mobile phone; you may use the data saving mode of the native data tracker found in your device's settings.
