Globe Business Hops into the Year of the Water Rabbit with Auspicious Festivities for MSMEs
Globe Business, in partnership with CHiNOY TV, hopped into a year of prosperity and longevity with delicious food tours and fairs, inspiring shows, and a feng shui session to give partner Filipino-Chinese entrepreneurs and the community an auspicious start to the Year of the Water Rabbit.
The new year is expected to be gentler and full of hope compared to the previous year’s Water Tiger as the Rabbit in Chinese culture represents patience, success, caution and positivity.
“In celebration of the Chinese New Year, Globe Business rolled out a range of exciting activities that provided our partner MSMEs in the Filipino-Chinese community with meaningful experiences that will help their businesses start off the new year right and propel them into the future,” said KD Dizon, MSME Group Head, Globe Business.
As a prelude to the new year celebrations, MSMEs and astrology enthusiasts were treated to an online session with renowned Feng Shui Master Kevin Foong, who gave a glimpse of the year ahead for the business sector and valuable insights and tips on how they can thrive and succeed in the Year of the Water Rabbit.
The two-hour talk tackled the overall economic outlook for 2023 and the use of the principles of Chinese geomancy to help businesses grow their customer base, and improve productivity and the wellbeing of employees.
Festivities and fireworks at the Lucky Chinatown Mall
Sharing in the festive spirit of the Chinese New Year, Globe Business also took part in the highly anticipated New Year countdown and other colorful festivities at the Lucky Chinatown Mall. The two-day event was live streamed at the Globe Business Facebook page with 200k viewers.
Celebrations Through Food and Service
No Chinese New Year celebration is ever complete without good food, and Globe Business made sure that the Filipino-Chinese community was able to showcase its rich food culture through a fair, a food tour and a special show that featured successful and beloved Filipino-Chinese food brands.
In partnership with Fil-Chi Ho Tsia Ho Dim, a four-day food fair was slated in partner malls—Glorietta, Trinoma and Lucky Chinatown Mall, giving home-based food retailers the opportunity to offer their products to more customers.
Participating merchants were provided free booths and a free one month use of ChatGenie, an in-app commerce platform that allows MSMEs to streamline the process of selling, collecting payment, scheduling and tracking deliveries in one dashboard.
In Chinoy Chow, a three-part food tour series that aired on Globe Business YouTube channel, foodies were taken on a culinary adventure through the biggest Chinatowns in Manila, Cebu and Davao to explore the delicious world of Chinese-Filipino cuisine. This featured crowd favorite Chinese Restaurants; Masuki, Eng Bee Tin Chinese Deli, Sincerity Cafe and Restaurant , Twenty Four Bakeshop, New Davao Famous Restaurant, Blue Posts Boiling Crabs and Shrimps, Fat Cow and Asian Cow, Cuore Cuisine, La Fortuna Bakery, Chef Joshua Kitchen, and Cur8.
The series also showcased how owners behind these thriving food establishments elevated their businesses through innovation and digitalization.
Globe Business also aired a special At Your SerBiz episode about the lives of Royce Gerik Chua of Eng Bee Tin and Paul Marvin Uy of Sincerity Café and Restaurant as fourth and third generation owners of thriving food businesses, respectively, and how they sustained their growth and success through the years.
The online talk show, hosted by inspirational speaker and businessman Francis Kong, discussed how successful Chinese Filipino entrepreneurs have integrated digital technology into their businesses to create new traditions while upholding their cultural and traditional values.
“We always strive to go beyond providing MSMEs with technology and innovation to spur their growth. Through these series of activities, we hope to have helped them create more opportunities for this Year of the Water Rabbit and achieve prosperity para sa tuloy-tuloy na success,” said Dizon.
