Globe myBusiness Provides Schools with Education Solutions to Raise Future-Ready Students
Globe myBusiness, the micro, small, and medium enterprise arm of Globe Telecom, underscores the company vision to help create an interactive and competitive learning environment for schools in the Philippines through the use of information and communications technology (ICT).
However, while there are Philippine schools that have already integrated technology in their system, many still have to take steps towards digitalization due to lack of resources or awareness on how to do it.
"It is not easy to move from traditional (teaching) to a tech environment. That is where we at Globe myBusiness would want to take part in, to actually handhold our partners and lead the way. Some are very cautious to take the first steps and sometimes that's all it takes: handholding,” said Grace Anduiza, Business Development Head for Globe myBusiness.
According to her, ICT is a powerful tool in helping students develop a global mindset and making them globally competitive now and in the future. Yet, although education solutions have always been student-centric, Anduiza also recognized the challenges educators face such as slow technology adoption that hinders them from keeping up with their digital native students.
Thus, Globe has created programs that train teachers to be innovative—the Global Filipino Teachers (GFT) under Globe Citizenship and PRISM digital literacy program under Globe myBusiness. Launched in 2009, GFT trains public school teachers on effective classroom management and problem-based learning using ICT. PRISM, on the other hand, equips teachers with technological skills for effective classroom teaching.
"By using technology, teachers, more or less, learn how to speak the digital native's language, which makes the lessons more relatable. We are building an environment that espouses innovation as well as culture change," Anduiza said.
To bridge the ICT gaps in schools, Globe myBusiness launched its suite of educational solutions a few years ago to harmonize the learning environment with the digital world and create a more interactive experience for students.
These solutions, ranging from campus-wide WiFi, automated processes, and a learning management system, benefit the entire education ecosystem as they help ease school operations and promote digital learning.
This is in support of UN Sustainable Development Goal No. 4, which ensures inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all.
