Globe and Cagayan State University (CSU) have launched a new digital learning space where students can access connectivity and technology for schoolwork, research, and creative projects while contributing to education initiatives beyond their campus. The Student Productivity and Academic Research Kiosk, or SPARK, was inaugurated at CSU-Andrews in September as the first pilot site for the initiative.
SPARK gives CSU students a dedicated space to connect, work on projects, pursue research, create content, and explore new technologies. As the first university to pilot the initiative, CSU will also provide Globe with insights that can help improve the program as it develops.
Every visit also gives students a way to contribute beyond the campus. By using SPARK, they donate one Globe Rewards point through the GlobeOne app to support the Ayala Foundation’s CENTEX program. The points collected will help support Ayala Foundation’s digital education initiatives for CENTEX schools, providing students with greater access to digital learning tools, resources, and opportunities.
“SPARK reflects our belief that technology becomes more meaningful when it creates opportunities not only for the individual using it, but also for the wider community. Every visit allows a student to learn, research, and create while making a simple contribution that can become part of a much greater impact,” said Iman Mancilla, Globe’s Area Business Head.
For CSU, the partnership provides students with another resource they can use for their studies and research. It also supports the university’s efforts to expand opportunities for young people to use technology as part of their education and preparation for the future.
“At Cagayan State University, we are committed to creating an environment where students have access to the tools and opportunities they need to learn, conduct meaningful research, and prepare for the future. Through SPARK, our students gain valuable digital resources while learning that even a simple act of giving can help make a difference in the lives of others,” said Terence Alfred Roberto A. Tejada, MBA, Campus Executive Officer – CSU Andrews.
The CSU launch marks the first step for SPARK, giving Globe a foundation to build on as it works with educational institutions to widen access to technology. By bringing learning and giving into the same experience, Globe hopes to create more opportunities for young Filipinos to move forward while contributing to communities beyond their campus.
