Globe gathered industry leaders, government partners, and sustainability advocates for Energize 2025, a two-day summit focused on advancing energy efficiency, conservation, and transitioning to renewables while balancing operational resilience. The event drew over 1,500 internal and external participants, including representatives from the Department of Energy (DOE), Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC), ACEN, and major technology partners. The summit carried the theme “Towards a Sustainable Energy Future: Building a Resilient and Green Network.”
“We see sustainability not as a side initiative, but as the foundation of our growth,” Globe President and CEO Carl Cruz said. “Our shift to renewable energy, the conversion of our fleet to hybrid and electric vehicles, and our Net Zero by 2050 commitment all reflect our responsibility to the country and the planet. Globe’s efforts show that business resilience and climate action can go hand in hand.”

Globe’s long-term climate goals are backed by science and accountability. The company is the first publicly listed firm in the Philippines to have its near- and long-term targets validated by the Science-Based Targets initiative (SBTi). It also aims to source 42% of its electricity from renewable energy by 2030, a major increase from 24% last year.
“Energize 2025 is more than an event. It is a collective movement to encourage our partners to transition to renewables, encourage responsible energy use, and drive long-term resilience,” Globe Chief Financial Officer and Chief Risk Officer Carlo Puno shared. “Globe’s clean energy journey began in 2019, when The Globe Tower became the first in the Philippine telco industry to purchase renewable electricity. Since then, we've steadily scaled these efforts, reaching 171 sites this year through the Energy Regulatory Commission’s Retail Aggregation Program (RAP). This enables us to expand renewable power to cell sites, with our target of more than 3000 sites transitioning to RE by 2028.”

Globe also commends the ERC for recently lowering the RAP threshold from 500 kW to 100 kW. This will enable the company to shift even more sites to renewable energy.
Through initiatives like the Green Energy Option Program (GEOP) and Retail Competition and Open Access (RCOA), Globe has achieved measurable results, reducing electricity costs by around 10%, cutting dependence on imported fossil fuels, and increasing stability in its operations.
Plenary sessions during the summit explored topics such as renewable integration, regulatory compliance, and innovative energy solutions for telecommunications. More than 20 energy and technology partners showcased their latest advancements, while government regulators shared updates on energy transition policies and incentives for green investments.
As Globe continues to expand its network and decarbonize its operations, Energize 2025 stands as proof that innovation, collaboration, and care can power a greener and more resilient Philippines.
