Coming in fresh into the company, I am very proud to share that 2024 was a milestone year for Globe, setting new records on consolidated gross service revenues and EBITDA, not to mention core net income hitting the second highest in the company’s history. Globe has maintained its strong leadership across Mobile, Corporate Reputation Index, global sustainability ratings, and ASEAN Corporate Governance Scorecard. 

 

I thank each and every Ka-Globe for the outstanding work they have done the past year.

 

Connectivity Wins and Challenges  

I am excited to take the reins of this prestigious organization and eager to see what we can do together for our customers and stakeholders. 

 

As I navigate our way forward, I go back to my personal purpose—that is, to take the team through an exciting journey to a great destination. And for me, that destination can only mean one thing—telco market leadership and to be the most admired company. 

 

Over the years, the company has gained market share in a very competitive industry. Today, the company stands not just as the leading mobile operator in the country, but one that offers an ecosystem of digital solutions designed to help Filipinos address day-to-day challenges. Today, Globe brand is synonymous with innovation, delivering first-to-market digital products and services that make life easier and more convenient.

 

5G holds tremendous promise in enhancing customer experience and driving business growth. Responding to higher 5G adoption rates, Globe has been densifying its network in high-demand areas to provide superior connectivity and a seamless user experience. 5G technologies will enable lightning-fast connectivity, better quality streaming, video surveillance and calls, more intelligent homes, and next-level gaming, among other applications. 

 

Artificial Intelligence is another platform for differentiation for operational efficiency and customer satisfaction. The global industry outlook shows how AI could deliver enhancements across many aspects of telco operations. Globe has been leading the pack in this arena as well, exemplifying the company’s commitment to harness the power of AI not just to improve the bottom line, but more to deliver a better experience for customers.

 

Another exciting development is working with the government to gain subsidies for the first time in connecting the Geographically Isolated and Disadvantaged Areas (GIDA). These are areas that currently have no mobile signal or internet connectivity, depriving residents of the life-enabling benefits of digital technology. 

 

In order for the company to maintain its revenue growth trajectory going forward, we are hopeful that the industry will continue to foster market repair. Combined with our ongoing cost transformation program and sustainable capex strategy, our goal of returning to a positive free cash flow status this 2025 will be achieved. 

 

Meanwhile, in areas where connectivity is ubiquitous, digital technology has given rise to various security risks, with fraud schemes evolving in sophistication. Globe has been at the forefront of efforts against these crimes, enforcing unprecedented countermeasures to proactively block these threats from the network, including those that particularly target children. We also provide customers with channels to report malicious SMS or suspicious content, such as our #StopSpam portal.

 

From Strength to Strength 

There are more battles to be won, and we will endeavor to lead, not only in Mobile, but also in Broadband and data connectivity. We aspire to be the most admired brand and the most profitable telco in the country. 

 

To do this, we will continue to strengthen our core business with laser focus on our North Star—the customer. Combined with best-in-class network infrastructure, staying focused on our customers’ needs will be the cornerstone of our business success. We will continue to invest in both network and IT platforms to bring an innovative and superior customer experience, adapting to their changing needs. We are building long-term relationships with our customers by delivering value that resonates with their evolving digital lifestyles. We must obsessively learn about them, understand their habits, so that we know them better than themselves. We will be productively paranoid—never complacent, always competitive—and win our customers’ hearts. 

 

I look forward to an exciting journey with all our fellow Ka-Globe and work closely with you, our shareholders, so that together we will bring Globe to greater heights. 

 

I do believe the best is yet to come for all of us.
