eSIM FAQs

What’s an eSIM?

An eSIM is a digital SIM that’s embedded can’t be removed from certain mobile phones, and allows you to activate a mobile phone plan from your network operator without the use of a physical nano SIM.

Devices that support an eSIM already have the SIM embedded into the device.  This SIM is ready to be activated by Globe based on the configuration of the mobile device. Depending on what the device can support, users may add multiple profiles or mobile numbers, which can be used one to two at a time.

In 2018, Globe was the first to make the eSIM available in the Philippines.

Here are the benefits of using an eSIM:

  • No More Physical SIMs: No need to manage physical SIM cards, reducing the risk of loss or damage.
  • Quick and Easy Activation: You can activate your eSIM with a simple QR code scan or download.
  • Enhanced Security: You can enjoy advanced security features like remote deactivation and strong encryption.
  • Flexibility and Convenience: You can transfer your eSIM to another device in minutes.
  • Multiple Profiles: You can manage multiple phone numbers and data plans on one device.

An eSIM can be transferred to another device following these steps:

  • Uninstall it from your current device
  • Scan the QR code that Globe previously sent to your email on your new device.
How’s it different from a physical nano SIM?
  • A physical nano SIM is removable and can be held, while an eSIM is embedded within the device.
  • The eSIM is ready to be activated by the network carrier based on the device’s configuration.
  • Users may add multiple profiles or mobile numbers which can be used up to two at a time, depending on the device.
