As El Nido’s tourism industry becomes more reliant on digital platforms, Globe is helping tourism workers recognize online risks that could affect their livelihoods and the people they serve. The company is also extending digital safety education to students, equipping them with practical skills for navigating technology responsibly.
Through its Digital Thumbprint Program (DTP), Globe provided practical lessons on cybersecurity, fraud, digital etiquette, cyberbullying, and responsible online behavior. The sessions are particularly relevant in El Nido, where hotels, resorts, and tourism workers increasingly rely on digital channels for reservations, payments, and guest communications, making digital safety important in protecting livelihoods and the people they serve.
“As El Nido continues to grow as a tourism destination, we want our community to be better prepared for the risks that come with greater use of digital technology. Helping our workers and young people understand how to stay safe online is an important part of that. We thank Globe for bringing these lessons closer to our community,” said Nicole Lim Gabarra, Municipal Administrator of El Nido, Palawan.
Globe kicked off the sessions with employees of Lime Resort El Nido, Isla Amara Boutique Resort, and H Hospitality Group Inc., focusing on cybercrime, fraud, and ways to protect online accounts and personal information. The program was also brought to Western Philippines University–El Nido, where 50 third- and fourth-year Hotel Management students participated, and Barotuan National High School, where more than 1,000 Grades 7 to 12 students learned about digital etiquette, cybersecurity, and cyberbullying. Globe also met with the municipal government to discuss how digital safety efforts can be strengthened across El Nido.
“Digital safety is an important life skill as technology becomes part of how Filipinos learn, work, transact, and connect. Through DTP, we want to give people practical knowledge they can use every day to protect themselves online and become more responsible digital citizens,” said Adonis Evangelista, General Manager for South Luzon at Globe.
Since its launch in 2016, DTP has reached more than two million students and educators nationwide, with its learning modules integrated into the Department of Education’s K to 12 curriculum. Globe continues to work with local governments, schools, businesses and communities to extend the program’s reach.
