Globe Readies Restoration Response as Basyang Impacts Connectivity in Surigao del Sur

Globe is closely monitoring Tropical Storm Basyang and has placed response teams on standby as network impacts are recorded in Surigao del Sur. Tropical Storm Basyang made landfall over Bayabas, Surigao del Sur, late Thursday night, based on the latest PAGASA updates. It continues to affect parts of Mindanao and the Visayas, with impacts being monitored as the weather system moves onward.

 

Globe’s Libreng Tawag, Libreng Charging, and Libreng WiFi (LTLCLW) deployments are on standby, pending further assessment of community needs and site accessibility. Relief efforts are also on standby, in coordination with local authorities and community partners, including Rise Against Hunger Philippines, as conditions continue to evolve.

Globe services were impacted in several municipalities in Surigao del Sur, with Cantilan, Hinatuan, and Madrid among the hardest hit. Globe technical teams are ready to mobilize as soon as it is safe to do so, prioritizing restoration activities in the most affected areas and coordinating closely with local utility providers and other partners on power and ground access conditions.
