Globe has received the prestigious Gold Award for Social (Good Health and Well-being) at the inaugural Inquirer ESG Edge Impact Awards 2025, in recognition of the Hapag Movement, its flagship hunger alleviation program.
The Awards are part of the Asia ESG Positive Impact Consortium (A-EPIC), which Inquirer Group formed recently alongside Malaysia's Star Media Group and Indonesia's KG Media to advocate for socioeconomic progress and environmental stewardship across Southeast Asia.
It celebrates the sustainable work of Philippine companies, whether big or small, underscoring the rising importance of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles in shaping enterprises and nurturing responsible citizenship.
“To the pioneer batch of INQUIRER ESG Impact awardees—congratulations and maraming salamat. Your achievements serve as an inspiration for others to follow, demonstrating that true success is inseparable from responsibility and that progress and purpose must always go hand in hand,” said Rudyard S. Arbolado, COO for Print, Inquirer during the awards ceremony.
“Globe is honored to receive this award, which affirms our commitment to creating a positive societal impact and building a sustainable future. The Hapag Movement exemplifies this mission by addressing hunger and equipping families with skills and opportunities that promote lasting change,” said Yoly Crisanto, Globe Group Chief Sustainability and Corporate Communications Officer.
The Hapag Movement is a tech-enabled fundraising initiative that creates long-term solutions for hunger, together with implementing partners Ayala Foundation Inc., Project PEARLS, World Vision Philippines, Rise Against Hunger Philippines, Scholars of Sustenance Philippines, Tzu Chi Foundation Philippines, and the UN World Food Programme.
It also gains strong backing from the private sector, including SM Advantage Card (SMAC) and Fine Dining Club Philippines member establishments Goxo, Kasa Palma, Taupe, Anzani, Mrs. Saldo’s, Roots, Finestra, Restaurant Idalia, Chef Jessie Rockwell Club, Metiz, Sauma, and Benjarong, through Globe Platinum’s Gastronome Giving Series.
By 2024, the program had supported 120,455 families, surpassing its 2025 target through Php 53 million in donations from Globe customers and corporate partners. It has also helped over 4,000 individuals graduate with the skills needed to pursue sustainable livelihoods.
Globe’s fight against involuntary hunger continues to demonstrate a measurable impact as reflected in a recent nationwide study conducted by Social Weather Stations (SWS) in coordination with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) among low-income households supported by the “Walang Gutom Program.”
The findings showed substantial improvements in hunger levels among the beneficiaries of the DSWD and Globe’s program, especially in households where women or less-educated members were in charge of meal planning.
Moving forward, the Hapag Movement expands its advocacy against child stunting, one of the most critical malnutrition challenges facing Filipino children today.
Through technology and partnerships, Globe connects those who can help with those in need, creating lasting positive change in hunger hotspots across the Philippines while reinforcing its commitment to sustainable development and social responsibility.
