What is LTE?

LTE stands for Long Term Evolution. It is now the standard wireless communication platform for high-speed data for mobile phones and other data devices, like tablets and USB modems.


LTE is a 4G technology that's fully capable of handling high-speed mobile data for your iPhone 5 and other LTE-capable devices!

How is it different from 3G?

With LTE, you can experience a faster, richer, and smoother wireless Internet experience than ever before. It is a next-generation mobile network technology that responds to the growing demand for mobile Internet bandwidth by providing download speeds up to 42 Mbps!

Does LTE cost more than 3G data?

Our LTE service doesn't cost more than 3G! You can enjoy our LTE service without additional fees. You don't even have to shift to a different or higher data plan.

Cool! So how can I get LTE signal coverage?

To be able to get LTE signal coverage, make sure you are using:


  1. An LTE-capable device, and
  2. An LTE SIM

How can I get an LTE SIM?

You can apply for a Postpaid plan (for as low as P299) or buy a prepaid LTE SIM for just P40!

How will I know if I am already on Globe's LTE network?

You should be able to see the letters "LTE" beside the signal bars if you are in an area covered by LTE.


If you're on iOS, make sure you enable Cellular Data on your device to connect to our LTE network.


Step 1: Go to Settings

Step 2: Select "General"

Step 3: Select "Cellular"

Step 4: Enable LTE by choosing "ON"


If you're on Android, make sure you enable Mobile Data on your device to connect to our LTE network.


Step 1: Go to Settings

Step 2: Select "Mobile networks"

Step 3: Select "Network mode"

Step 4: Enable LTE by choosing "LTE/3G/2G (auto connect)"

I'm located in an area that's LTE-enabled, but why can't I see "LTE" beside my signal bar?

Please make sure that your device and SIM are LTE-capable so you can access Globe's LTE network within these areas.

What happens to my signal if I'm in an area not covered by LTE?

Once you move outside the LTE signal coverage, your LTE device will connect to the next highest technology it can find. Refer to the list below (listed from the highest speed to the lowest):


  • HSPA+
  • 3G
  • EDGE
  • GPRS

Can I use the LTE SIM while roaming?

Yes, you can use LTE SIM while roaming.

What types of SIM do you have?

All of our LTE SIMs are in tri-cut form (Regular, Micro, and Nano in one).

Can I use the regular and micro SIM portions of the Tri-cut SIM simultaneously using 2 different devices?

No. Just like with any SIM, you can only use the SIM for one device at a time.

I plan to replace my current device with an LTE-capable device soon. Do I have to change my number if I change my old SIM to an LTE SIM?

No need to change your number. You can still keep it!

Will my number change if I shift from the regular SIM to the micro or the nano SIM?

No, you will still be using the same number.

Can I use my LTE SIM in a non-LTE capable device?

Yes, you can use your LTE SIM in a non-LTE capable device, but please note that a non-LTE device cannot provide you with LTE speeds. Instead, it will connect to the next highest technology it can find.

How can I check if my nano SIM is LTE-capable?

We can check your nano SIM's LTE capability; just provide us with your SIM serial number.


For iOS:


  1. Go to Settings
  2. Go to General
  3. Go to About
  4. Scroll to the bottom and find the 20-digit ICCID (that's your SIM's serial number).


For Android:


  1. Go to Settings.
  2. Go to About phone.
  3. Go to Status.
  4. Go to IMEI Information.Find the 19-digit ICCID (that's your SIM's serial number).

How can I have my current SIM replaced with an LTE SIM?

Just visit any Globe store to have your SIM replaced for free!

Can I use my LTE-capable device with Globe's LTE network?

Yes, you can get LTE signal coverage from Globe as long as you're using an LTE SIM with your LTE-capable device.

Great! What are the requirements for me to start using LTE?

There are no additional requirements required for you to enjoy LTE!

Really? But what if I'm not subscribed to any mobile internet promo? Do you offer mobile internet services that run on LTE (ex. GoSURF)?

Our current mobile internet plans and promos will allow you to connect to the highest technology it can find (from highest to lowest: LTE, HSPA+, 3G, EDGE or GPRS).


Once you sign up with any of these services, you will enjoy the promo rates within and outside the LTE areas.

Can I share my LTE connection with my laptop, tablet, and/or other smartphones?

Internet sharing depends on the device you are using. You may try any of our promos so you can enjoy LTE with the current device you have. However, please be reminded that these promos may be governed by our Fair and Acceptable Use Policy.
