Answers to Common Network Questions - I'm not happy with my browsing experience. I have enough data allowance and I'm connected to the internet, what basic troubleshooting can I do?
You may click here to start troubleshooting your experience. Also, if you're using an LTE device but currently using a non-LTE SIM - replacing it with an LTE SIM can spell the difference in your browsing. An LTE SIM will allow you to connect to the internet more quickly, and pictures and videos load faster. Surfing is smoother and more seamless. To check if your SIM has LTE capability, text SIM CHECK to 8080 for free. You'll receive a reply telling you whether your SIM is LTE or not. To upgrade to an LTE SIM, just head over to the nearest Globe store and let our store representatives help you get a new LTE SIM. - I'm experiencing intermittent to no signal at all. What do I need to do?
Several factors may contribute to your signal strength and network experience: - Mobile device processing power and simultaneous mobile applications
Think of this as similar to your computer’s processing power. Make sure that your mobile device is advanced enough to handle multiple applications running all at the same time. Your browsing experience is both dependent on mobile-capability and the signal being received.
- Distance from a cell tower
Our mobile devices communicate through radio waves. The further your distance is to a cell tower, the weaker your signal will be. While Globe continues to improve our network infrastructure, you may nominate your area for our next cell site project.
- Infrastructures and materials in your area
Radio waves travel from your phone to the nearest cell tower. If something big is blocking the way, it could get difficult for the radio waves to reach your phone or the cell tower. Concrete, steel, tall buildings, thick walls, and aquariums, can effectively block cell signals.
To get strong signal, make sure to use your mobile data preferably from an upper floor and avoid obstructions that may block mobile signal.
- High-traffic area
In high-traffic areas, numerous customers are expected to use Globe's mobile network and as such, network resources/bandwidth will be shared among these users. This is similar to the Wi-Fi experience in a coffee shop where the access speed is likely to slow down as more users connect to the hotspot.
- Busy website
Sometimes, the problem is independent of your Globe internet connection or signal strength. Poor experience in website, gaming sites or applications may be a result of too many viewers or users. Some sites/applications are best accessed during off-peak hours to maximize your browsing experience.
