Why do I sometimes experience a poor quality video stream while watching HOOQ?

One factor that could cause poor quality of video is internet speed. But with the help of Adaptive bitrate technology (ABR), poor quality video streaming can be minimized. ABR determines the screen size and internet bandwidth of the user and will deliver the best possible video resolution to avoid video interruptions, or what is commonly called “buffering.”

I am using HOOQ locally, but why am I unable to stream videos?

HOOQ may not work properly if your network is protected by a firewall or proxy server. Please ensure that the device is connected to a network that allows outgoing Internet connections for all TCP ports. Hooq does not work in a network that requires a proxy server.

At launch, Hooq has a maximum bitrate of 510kbps with a video resolution (16:9) of 640x360.  At worst case, a user may experience minimum resolution of 64kbps, which provides audio only. Your bitrate is chosen automatically, it may not be chosen or set to manual.

How can I improve my video streaming experience?

If you have other running applications that are using the internet, you can close these applications before streaming videos again. If you are sharing internet connection with other devices, check to see if these devices are using any bandwidth-intensive programs before streaming videos.
